You’ve been Shazamming songs for years. But those tracks just disappear into a digital black hole.
Here’s the thing most people miss. Shazam can automatically build Spotify or Apple Music playlists from every song you identify. No extra taps needed. Yet most users never turn this feature on.
Let me show you how to actually use those thousands of songs you’ve identified instead of letting them collect dust in the app.
The Problem with Shazam’s Default Behavior
Shazam works brilliantly for identification. You hear a song at a coffee shop or wedding. One tap later, you know the artist and title. Problem solved.
But then what? Most people never hear that song again.
The “My Music” tab inside Shazam becomes a graveyard of forgotten tracks. Thousands of songs you liked enough to identify but never actually listened to. That’s a waste of great music discoveries.
Plus, the Shazam app isn’t built for playback. It’s designed for identification. So even if you wanted to revisit those songs, the experience is clunky and limited.
Auto-Sync Shazam Song Identification to Playlists
Here’s what changes everything. Connect Shazam to your streaming service once. Enable one simple setting. Then every song you Shazam automatically flows into a dedicated playlist.
No more forgotten tracks. No more manual copying. Just instant access to everything you’ve discovered through a playlist you can actually use.
The setup takes about 90 seconds. Let’s walk through it.
Connect Shazam to Spotify
First, make sure both Shazam and Spotify are installed on your phone or tablet. Then open the Shazam app.

Tap the “My Music” tab at the bottom of the screen. You’ll see a gear icon in the upper left corner. Tap that to open settings.
Look for the “Streaming” section near the top. You’ll see Spotify listed with a gray “Connect” button next to it. Tap that button.
Shazam opens Spotify briefly to authorize the connection. Then it drops you back in Shazam. The connection is now active.
But here’s the crucial part most people miss. You need to enable one more setting.
Enable Spotify Auto-Add for Shazam Tracks
Look for the toggle switch labeled “Sync Shazam library to Spotify.” Turn that slider on.
That’s it. From now on, every song you Shazam gets added automatically to a Spotify playlist called “My Shazam Tracks.”
You can edit this playlist however you want. Remove songs you don’t like. Reorder tracks. Add other songs. It’s yours to customize.
Plus, new Shazams keep getting added to the end of the playlist. So it grows organically with your music discovery.
Apple Music Works the Same Way
Apple owns Shazam now, so the Apple Music integration is equally smooth. The process mirrors Spotify’s setup.
Open Shazam and tap “My Music” at the bottom. Hit the gear icon. Under “Streaming,” tap “Connect” next to Apple Music.
Once connected, enable “Sync Shazam library to Apple Music.” This creates the same automatic playlist in Apple Music called “My Shazam Tracks.”
One important limitation though. You can only auto-sync to either Spotify or Apple Music at a time, not both. Choose the service you use most.

Add Shazam Songs to Apple Music Library Manually
Apple Music offers a bonus feature Spotify doesn’t. After connecting the services, you can manually add individual Shazam tracks to specific playlists.
Tap the “Add to” button next to any Shazam song. Then select which Apple Music playlist you want it in. This gives you more control over organization if you prefer that approach.
So you get both automatic syncing and manual curation options with Apple Music.
Shazam Integration with YouTube Music and Deezer
Shazam also connects to YouTube Music and Deezer. But these services don’t get the automatic playlist feature.
Instead, you can open Shazam tracks directly in YouTube Music or Deezer. After connecting those services in Shazam settings, use the three-dot “More” menu on any song to launch it in your preferred app.
Not as convenient as auto-playlists. But still better than keeping songs trapped in Shazam forever.
Music Discovery Workflow: From Shazam to Saved Playlists
Music discovery used to be hard. Now it’s effortless thanks to Shazam. But discovery without listening is pointless.
This one simple setting transforms Shazam from a lookup tool into an actual music discovery engine. Every song you identify becomes immediately accessible in your main streaming app where you actually listen to music.
Plus, you build a personalized playlist that captures your musical journey over time. That’s valuable data about your evolving taste and interests.
I’ve Shazammed over 3,000 songs in five years. My “My Shazam Tracks” playlist is now one of my favorite listens. It’s full of surprises and memories from different times and places.
Your future self will thank you for making this change today.
